It's getting to the time of year where your feet are in sandals and more on show after being hidden away for months in them old winter boots. Just ask yourself, Are your feet summer ready? If not then a therapeutic treatment is just want they need.

Some of you may ask what is a pedicure? So much goes into a pedicure, there's more to it than just making the toenails look pretty. A pedicure is a therapeutic treatment for your feet that removes dead skin, softens hard skin and shapes and treats your toenails.

So what makes a good pedicure?
Pedicures are a great way to ensure you look after your feet. A regular pedicure can support you if you suffer from foot problems, which may even stop you from needing further treatments. A pedicure can soothe and relax you, when your therapist has massaged several softening and soothing creams into your feet, you will feel like you are walking on air.

What Benefits me from having a pedicure?
Of course there is an obvious cosmetic benefit to getting your toenails done they look clean and pretty but there are also numerous health benefits. The foot massage that comes with most pedicure services helps to stimulate circulation to the feet, which is important for you overall foot health. The removal of calluses on the feet can prevent the formation of pressure points from uneven weight distribution, and having your nails trimmed by a skilled nail specialist can prevent ingrown toenails. Regular pedicures are also a good way to prevent blisters, corns, and blackened toenails.
What can you expect from a pedicure?
A traditional pedicure begins with a therapeutic bath or spa. Your feet are soaked and cleansed in warm scented water to soften the skin. An exfoliating rub with salts and minerals is then use to help get rid of dead skin. Your therapist will removal cuticles and cut and shape your toenails. Creams and aromatherapy oils are massaged into the feet to refresh and soften the skin. Some pedicures will included hot stones into the massage, where as some therapist will use a warm mask on the feet. Then a high quality toenail polish will then be applied at the end of the pedicure.
Different types of pedicures?
Pedicures very depending on the salon and the therapist. But you can usually find one that is perfect for you.
Vinylux Polish a classic which uses a lasting polish, and squares off your toenails sealed with a top coat finish.
Shellac Pedicure clear or coloured polish is bonded together to your nails with a UV light for a longer lasting glossy finish and 14+ day wear without chips.

HOT PEDICURE TIP! Choice of footwear is crucial. You don't want to have to push newly high gloss finish toenails into socks and shoes just to travel home. Standard polish can take up to 12 hours to be completely touch dry, (unless your having Shellac which dries instantly). Whatever you arrive in we recommend that you have flip-flops or open toe sandals to wear afterwards.

Sun damaged skin


What is sun damaged skin?
Sun damaged skin is the appearance of leathery and older looking skin most commonly associated with prolonged time in the sun or on sun beds. SPF is extremely important at reducing the effects of the suns harmful rays and should be worn daily.

What causes sun damaged skin?
Sun damaged skin is when the skin is subjected to prolonged time in the sun without the correct protection. Skin cells become damaged due to the suns harmful rays which caused them to not function correctly. The physical structure of the skin becomes damaged causing it to look dull and slack.

Treatments for sundamaged skin ?
Advanced vitamin skin treatment – A treatment that uses concentrated doses of vitamins A and C in a serum form. It is placed on the skin and electrical current is used to push the product to the basal layer of the skin when the skin cells grow. It helps to improve the condition of the cells reversing the effects of the suns damage.
Cool peel – Our cool peel facial uses a gentle chemical peel to help smoothen the skin aiding in the appearance sun damaged skin. What is uneven pigmentarion?
Uneven pigmentation is the appearance of uneven skin tones found on the skin. This could be random patches of darker or lighter skin, darkened patches around the eyes and mouth or liver spots.

What causes Uneven pigmentation in skin?
Uneven pigmentation can be caused by too much sun exposure, hormones or a genetic condition.  Melanin in the skin cells is not produced correctly in these cases and this is what caused the uneven pigmentation. It is something that can be reduced however a strict skin regiment must be followed to achieve this.

Treatments for ageing skin?

Advanced vitamin skin treatment – A treatment that uses concentrated doses of vitamins A and C in a serum form. It is placed on the skin and electrical current is used to push the product to the basal layer of the skin when the skin cells grow. It helps to improve the condition of the cells helping them to produce the correct amount of melanin and improving the appearance of the skin.

What is ageing skin?
Ageing skin is when the skin starts to lose its natural elasticity and wrinkles and ages spots occur. Wrinkles around the eyes and mouth are usually the first signs of ageing. As we get older the skin begins to produce less collagen this is the chemical that helps to plump the skin helping it to look younger.

What causes ageing skin?
It’s a fact that we are all going to age and we are all going to get wrinkles at some point in our life! The issue with ageing skin is when it prematurely ages. This can be brought on by drinking, smoking, lifestyle choices, pollution and genetics. Some peoples skin ages quicker than others but there is a way in which we can prolong the effect of ageing skin.

What is sensitive skin?
Sensitive skin is when the skin can become sore and inflamed due to a reaction of the skin cells when touched. The reaction can be set off by heat, touch or products. It is usually not an allergic reaction that occurs but a problem with cells being over sensitive. Red blotchy patches can usually be seen on the skin. 

What causes sensitive skin?
Skin sensitivity can be due to hormones, stress, lifestyle, diet, sun damage or genetics. Some skins are sensitive to different things so it is important to always do a small patch test with products before committing yourself to them.

Treatments for sensitive skin?
Advanced vitamin skin treatment – A treatment that used concentrated doses of vitamins A and C in a serum form. What is dehydrated skin?
Dehydrated skin is caused from the lack of water present in the body. You can usual tell if skin is dry or dehydrated by small flaky patches and small lines that look like wrinkles.

What causes dehydrated skin?
Dehydrated skin is caused from a depletion of water present in the skin cells. This can be down to there not being enough water intake daily, spending lots of time in the sun and some medications.

Treatments for dehydrated skin?
Hydraboost skin treatment – A treatment using electrical current to push product into the skin 4000 times more than a standard facial. Focus hydrating serum is used to help add water back into the cells of the skin. A course of 6-10 treatments is advised depending on the severity of the dehydration. Monthly facials are then advised to help maintain the improved skin.
